About the American Chamber of Commerce in Morocco

The American Chamber of Commerce in Morocco is a private, non-governmental business organization whose mission is to cooperate with all levels of U.S. and Moroccan government and business in maintaining a partnership for sustained economic growth and mutual prosperity.

The AmCham is an association formed by the leaders of U.S. corporations in Morocco as well as Moroccan companies, multinationals, and other organizations and individuals doing business with the United States.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Morocco was established in 1966. The Chamber's members represent a broad spectrum of business and financial affairs, and support the operation of the association through annual dues; the Chamber receives no governmental financial support.

Organization

Board of Directors. The American Chamber of Commerce in Morocco is governed by a Board of Directors, comprising the presidents of leading U.S. companies established in Morocco, Moroccan companies doing business with the U.S., the AmCham Program Manager, and two honorary members representing the U.S. government in Morocco. Board members are elected by the membership of the Chamber at a general assembly. The list of members is available here.

Committees. Much of the Chamber's annual workload is accomplished through several standing committees. The active committees are: Free Trade Agreement/Commerce and Industry, Corporate Citizenship, Al Akhawayn University Partnership, OSAC (security issues), and Events. Committees meet regularly throughout the year to plan and develop the AmCham's activities and research, and members include representatives of the Board of Directors. Other members in good standing of the Chamber and who are interested in becoming members of a committee should write a letter of interest to the chair of the committee they wish to join.

Staff. A Program Manager manages the day-to-day operations of the central office, coordinates board activities and meetings, and supervises all events and publications. The Administrative Assistant and Messenger are integral parts of a central office team that handles information requests, processes membership applications, performs specialized research, and produces events.
